Australia will be heading to the fourth Test at Old Trafford in September. They will focus on maximizing chances and rectifying mistakes they had at Headingley.
At Headingley, Australia wasted many chances; that enabled England to grab the one-wicket win and equalize the series to 1-1. Stokes and Jonny Bairstow counter punching stand of 86 runs gave Australia a reason to believe that they were capable of completing the chase in the Test.
On day four, England was 4-159 when Nathan Lyon and Joe Root were edging each other with 200 runs short of the target. Australia was struggling in their line when challenged with aggression. Coach Langer was impressed by the fast bowlers but he has agreed that they need to improve.
In all touring squad, Cummins has carried a massive load. Australian vice-Captain Paceman is another player who has carried the weight. He has played all the three Tests.
Cummins won’t play the three-day tour in Derby which will start on Thursday. However, he hopes to play the final two Tests to help Australia secure first Ashes series victory since 2001.
