Saturday evening’s game was uneventful for winger Walcott who had to be stretchered out just two minutes into the game against Man City. The 30-year-old was finally kicking off his start of the season.
Unfortunately for Walcott, he got struck in the face by Rahim Sterling Man city’s winger as he was attempting to block his cross.
The head injury left the player dazed and even the five minute on-the-field treatment was not enough and he had to be stretchered off the pitch. Alex Iwobi was then substituted in his place.
A report statement from the club mentioned that Walcott had been discharged from the hospital on the same day.
The player is still receiving close monitoring from the medical team, and according to the reports, his progress is quite good.
It is three days since the injury and Walcott’s recovery is going as expected and if all goes well, the player will be back to training in the course of the week. Everton was defeated 3-1 in the game that took place at Goodison Park.
Man City’s victory has placed them second in the Premier League standings with only 5 points behind Liverpool. On Sunday, Man City will face the Wolves and the following week, the club will play against Crystal Palace.
Coming to Everton, the club will clash against Burnley FC on Saturday. Walcott’s exit must have sparked some changes on Marco Silva’s side. We all hope that Walcott will be up and playing in the next games. Keep watching!
