Google launched a number of new products today, one of which is a follow-up to the most popular product they’ve ever offered in a single category. Google Wifi has been a huge success and the follow-up Nest Wifi comes with many improvements.
However, the most prominent component in this new mesh Wifi system is definitely The Point, a mesh “satellite” which carries the Router’s Wi-Fi signal to every corner of your home. This design is not something new, however, what’s included in its design is undoubtedly impressive. You will find along the lower half of the unit what is basically a Nest Mini, new and improved Google Assistant speaker.
The presence of that speaker makes a huge difference, as it works great with the existing Google Wifi system. Those who have a Google Wifi already and need extension to their network can choose a Nest Wifi Point at a price of $150. It may cost $100 more than the Nest Mini but it offers much better functionality when compared to an ordinary speaker.
The addition of a speaker on The Point is surely, a big surprise from Google, especially for those who might not have Google/Nest Home speakers already in their home. Even for those who have Google’s speakers scattered throughout their place, the addition of an extra one on a Wi-fi mesh point means that an extra speaker will probably be put somewhere at the far corner of the house.
That’s good news as it will make Googling things much easier no matter which room you’re in. It also means simpler and faster controls for busy people who don’t want to waste time in app settings or configuration, emphasizing that Google Nest’s home products are the simplest solutions available.
