It has been a trying week for players in the Swedish online gambling industry. Just before the New Year, they could play anywhere and try their hand at anything in the internet betting world. Then, overnight, the Swedish Government snapped their fingers, and it all went away.
While the Swedish Gaming Authority has been producing licenses to significant software developers and casino operators, they are hardly moving fast enough. As a result, many of the internet’s leading online casinos have had to suspend gambling accounts connected to Swedish players for the time being, while they wait for their license to be granted.
Fortunately, this week a few more companies received licenses to offer their services to players in the country.
Microgaming Games Go Live in Sweden
Arguably the biggest news for Swedish online gamblers this week is the news that Microgaming has been granted a license to offer games to casinos in the country. Any online casino which has officially received a permit from the Swedish Gaming Authority should now be able to provide Microgaming slot machines to their players.
This is major news for all who love slot gaming online, as Microgaming is one of the biggest providers of such games. Titles such as Immortal Romance, Thunderstruck II, Game of Thrones, Jurassic World and the record progressive jackpot paying Mega Moolah will, therefore, continue to be available to Swedish bettors.
Pragmatic Play Joins The List
Joining Microgaming in obtaining a Swedish iGaming license this week is Pragmatic Play. The casino software provider is now licensed and certified, and will adhere to regulation set forth by the Swedish authorities, so, they too, are also entitled to offer their games to any online casinos operating legally in the country.
Pragmatic Play has also worked a deal whereby their offer games to Sweden’s official gambling enterprise – Svenska Spel. The software provider on received their supplier license from Gibraltar in late 2018, so things are moving fast for this fledgeling developer of casino games.
GVC Sites Made Their Debut
It isn’t just software providers who are making ground in Scandinavia this week. GVC Holdings – one of the biggest owners and operators of casino sites on the net – have just received their license to provide Swedish players with gambling games, too.
GVC’s biggest brands include Bwin and PartyPoker, amongst many others. The addition of these sites is undoubtedly going to prove popular in a country which is well known for its gamblers and particularly its sports betting audience.
