Report says Bayern’s defender David Alaba will not be in the line-up for home and European action for some time. In precise, Goals magazine mentions he will be away for several weeks including for the German side.
This comes as a huge blow to his team especially considering that Bayern Munich’s Champions League is around the corner. Rumors have it that the coach and the team’s management are starting to feel the heat of not having Alaba in the line and recommendations to have his equivalent in case of such a situation in future have become a consideration.
What’s even somewhat disheartening to the fans is the fact that the injury happened during a warm-up at RB Leipzig on Sunday and could be the reason for Bayern’s 1-1 draw.
In the game, he was replaced by Jerome Boateng while Lucas Hernandez filled Jerome’s left side of defense.
Bayern’s leadership has been hesitant to confirm to the fans the exact length of time Alaba will be away, but it will be probably several weeks. As such, Niko Kovac, Bayern’s coach is hard-pressed with the task of deciding the game plans for Wednesday’s League campaigns against Red Star Belgrade.
The official statement from the club highlighted that “David Alaba had a muscle tear on Saturday and we regret to mention he will be away for a spell of time. The injury came about while he was warming up, but we hope he recovers faster.”
The German Champions are lagging behind Leipzig by two points followed by Borussia Dortmund.
