A California based parent has filed a complaint against Tech Giant Apple for promoting gambling products to children. Rebecca Taylor has alleged that Apple is providing games through the App Store that contain the Loot Box mechanism. She further said that Apple is complicit or guilty of promoting gambling products to the children.

The case was filed at the US District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose Division on June 15th.
However, Apple has provided disclosures for loot boxes similar to those for gambling products, the argument of the complaint said.

It says that even Apple implicitly concedes that Loot Boxes in the App Store are some form of gambling. Just like the California State Lottery, Apple requires Apple needs to disclose the odds of winning, the argument said. The possibilities of winning should be disclosed for the particular items in the Loot Boxes as well.
