On Tuesday night, Los Angeles Dodgers beat Colorado Rockies 5-3. Russell Martin hit a go-ahead, three-run homer, and two outs. Pinch-hitter David Freese followed with a single shot in the seventh inning and Los Angeles were elevated above the Rockies.
Dodgers eliminated seven homers in beating Rockies 16-9 on Monday. This was one of their best homer swallows. They eliminated three homers in the middle game of the series, and now they have 248 homers elimination this season
The Rockies got their eighth in row loss and tied with a season-long slip. They have won one in 13 games. In the second, Colorado led 2-0 after a solo homers by Daniel Murphy. Nolan Arenado made his fourth homer in the last six games with Dodgers. Rockies starter Chi Chi Gonzalez made a two strikeout into the seventh, and only two Dodger’s runner was able to run to the next base in that inning.
Cody Bellinger drove a leadoff walk against Gonzalez, and then A.J. Pollock called a third strike. Matt Beaty singled, and Bellinger curved nearly off the bag. Ryan McMahon didn’t get the tag in time on Charlie Blackmon’s throw.
Bryan Shaw replaced Gonzalez and retired Kike Hernandez with a flyout. Martin’s 2-2 pitch into the left-field gave Dodger’s their first lead. Then Freese’s solo shot made the score 4-12. Justin Turner solo shot in the eighth extended Dodger’s lead to 5-2.
Closer Kenley Jansen made his 28th save in the shaky ninth. He walked McMahon with one out, then pinch-hitter Yonder Alonso doubled to center. Yonathan Daza scored on Tony Wolters’ groundout to second set the score to 5-3.
In first and third innings, Rockies had the potential of tying the runs, but Casey Sadler drove a fly out to center to end the inning.
Julio Urias who had been suspended by MLB since August 16th, made his first appearance, he gave in one run, two hits and struck out three with no walk. Gonzalez allowed two runs and three hits in 6 1/3 innings. He also struck out three and walked three on 101 pitches.
