With the European transfer window closing in, the ‘Blues’ adds three more players to its list of loanees. Frank Lampard, Chelsea boss is strategizing for a more fruitful season by loaning out its less active players.
The latest loanees are Baba Rahman, Robert Kenedy, and Lucas Piazon. Baba Rahman, a Ghanaian professional player joined the Stamford Bridge in 2015. He is now set to play for La Liga side Real Mallorca but luckily for him, he has also signed a one-year extension with the Blues. The contract will keep him at Stamford until 2022.
Lucas Piazon, on the other hand, is being deployed to Portuguese outfit Rio Ave. The 25-year-old Brazilian player has been with Chelsea ever since 2012. At 18, the player was already eligible to play for the Chelsea senior team.
The third player to be loaned out is Robert Kennedy who is set for La Liga outfit Getafe this summer season. For 18 months, the player had been loaned out to Newcastle.
Like Baba Rahman, Kenedy had joined Stamford Bridge in 2015 after being signed up from his Brazilian club, Fluminense. Although he made 27 appearances during his stay, he has scored only once. As such, some unconfirmed rumors seem to link this low performance to the decision, but as always gossip in soccer will try to explain anything.
As of now, let us all hope that the Chelsea manager knows what he is doing. Drawing with Sheffield on Saturday came as a disappointment for him, but he accepted that more effort was needed by the team.
As they say, in football simple adjustments can work magic. As in, who knows, maybe with a change of pitch, these loaned out players will come back sharpened, refreshed and energized.
