Web browser Brave announced on August 27, on a blog post, that it’s currently working on the development of a cryptocurrency wallet for Ethereum tokens, which will be called Crypto Wallets.
According to the announcement, the wallet will be integrated into the browser and it’s compatible with Brave’s native ERC-20 Basic Attention Token (BAT), along with other Ethereum-based tokens and Ether (ETH) itself. This wallet also supports interactions with decentralized applications, also known as DApps.
Incompatible with Brave Rewards… for now.
The only disadvantage so far with this wallet is that it can’t interact with Brave Rewards. Therefore, Brave users won’t be able to transfer BAT between Brave Rewards and Crypto Wallets.
However, and according to the announcement, Brave plans to add a transfer method between Brave Rewards and this new wallet. Also, there are plans to integrate support for Uphold into the wallet, this in order to allow users to transfer crypto assets between Brave Rewards, Crypto Wallets and an Uphold account.
Besides, a future direct integration between Crypto Wallets and Brave Rewards is also planned. That will be one of the company’s largest projects to complete the development of this wallet.
