After Weeks Of Teases, OnePlus Finally Discloses Its TV

After weeks of teases, we know now the full details of OnePlus’s debut TV set. The OnePlus TV Q1 will first arrive at India. It looks like a fascinating device on the surface. It includes a 55-inch, 4K QLED panel with support for both Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The Q1also offers a good mix of connectivity options, with four HDMI 2.0 ports on the back and built-in WiFi in addition to Bluetooth 5.0.

As announced, it’ll ship with Android TV and have support for both Alexa and Google Assistant. With the OnePlus Connect app, you can input text and switch between Android TV apps on your smartphone. The OnePlus TV will automatically reduce its volume whenever you get a call on your phone, so you won’t have to rush to do that yourself. Moreover, Chromecast support is built directly into the TV.

But One Plus’ sales approach is more interesting than the TV. As seen with its smartphone lineup, the company is going to offer two different models of the OnePlus TV — a standard model and a “Pro” variant. They will cost INR 69,000 ($985) and INR 99,900 ($1407) respectively. Although they’ll both include built-in 50W soundbars which support Dolby Atmos, the Pro model integrates a sliding eight-speaker array rather than a static four-speaker one. Another big difference is that the Pro model comes with a stand. For the less expensive Q1, OnePlus is following Apple’s lead and asking people to buy a separate dock which costs INR 2,990 ($42).

OnePlus hasn’t disclosed any details on when it plans to roll out the Q1 series in the US, so we’ll have to wait to find out if OnePlus can translate the new trend of smartphone companies offering pricier “Pro” to the TV market. For the moment, OnePlus fans in the US can look forward to the OnePlus 7T.
